Dear you,
We met a few years ago on a hot summer night, and hit it off from the start. We met in a crowd but each lost our friends to hang out alone. We talked, we danced and you walked me home like a perfect gentleman. I was immediately smitten.

We hung out and I enjoyed every minute of it. I hadn't felt a pull to someone like that before and with an intensity I haven't felt since.

We ended too soon when I had to leave to pursue a dream. Since I returned, I tried to re-connect many times and you ignored me. Rightfully so. We didn't part on the best terms. I was sad and drunk, and harsh words were uttered. I'm sorry.

I still think about you often, and what could have been. I think we could have been awesome. I don't think you realized how handsome and interesting you were, but I hope you do now. I'm happily with another, and it's a serious commitment, but I will always hold a special place for you in my heart. I will always wonder what could have been.

Take care and find happiness. —Me

My honey bear

I am working 60 hours a week and taking online classes. I am tired and cranky often. Winter is the shits. We both work really hard and yet you always manage to have a beautiful meal made for me. You are ready with a game of chess when I need a distraction. You pour me bubble baths. You are always ready to give massages and amazing orgasms on the regular. You are the fucking BESTEST. Thank you for always making it better. xo —Xo Me

To the AWESOME three men that pushed my car today!

This morning I was parked in a deceptively deep snow bank at The Centennial Pool in my grey Pontiac Vibe and got very, very stuck. Three men came to my rescue; two from across the parking lot and one from his car that he had pulled over. They pushed my car and saved my morning. Thanks so much to these gentlemen. This is why Canada is the best. I didn't get a chance to thank them properly after I was freed, so I hope they see this! —The (Stuck) Pontiac Bandit

Bright light at the Ferry Terminal

Every morning I take the ferry to Woodside, and every morning there is the most cheerful woman in the world handing out Metro newspapers. I never take one, but her lovely Dutch/German accent with which she tells me to have a beautiful day really does make me have a beautiful day. —Appreciative Metro Transit Passenger

Thanks to be a Reminder

Posted on Mon, Jan 25, 2016 at 4:00 AM

Have a difficult time with my partner. Love him to death , however, don't feel the same back... Even though he is telling me that he loves me... but the way he behaves shows me the opposite. He is gently killing my feeling. So, I found the following saying, which perfectly describes how I feel now. Just want to share and maybe he reads it and realizes what he is doing to me: You were an unpleasant memory; now you’re my reminder. You’re my reminder to be more cautious of the people I invest my time in. You’re my reminder to see people for who they are and not for who I want them to be. You’re my reminder to fall in love with how people treat me, not what they tell me. But if by chance I do fall for the wrong person again, you are my reminder that I can survive the worst. Thank you, My Love, My Reminder! —WhoLovedYou

To the kind soul who got medical help for me after a nasty fall on or around Barrington Street on Friday evening: I wasn't able to properly express my deep gratitude in that moment, but please know how thankful I am that you were there for me. It gives me hope to know there are people like you out there. —Slip and Faller

THANK YOU

I want to say thank you to a young lady who helped me get up off my back yesterday after a hard fall on Spring Garden Road by the Public Gardens around 5PM. I am a 73-year-old black man and the lady was a much younger white woman who had to use all her strength to help me (I couldn't have done it on my own). I just want to acknowledge Halifax and the fact that we still have good people. To the young lady who helped me: once again, thank you and I wish you all the best. —The Man Who Fell

Sweet sweet justice

I would just like to thank the undercover police car that pulled over the truck that cut me, a pedestrian, off while crossing at the Quinpool and Robie intersection. As someone who almost exclusively walks, this is something that happens far too regularly. It's nice to know that police officers are not just barraging pedestrians with ridiculously high fines, but are occasionally doling out very justifiable tickets to inconsiderate drivers. —Urban Walker

Sorry I Hurt Your Feelings

I didn't mean for anyone to see what I wrote in my makeshift Burn Book. I genuinely liked so many people in that place, it was a nice team. With you guys it was more complicated. I had good days and bad days with you. We had some laughs and interesting discussions. But sometimes there was a barrier to understanding, unfair judgments on both sides, and hurt feelings...first mine, then yours. It's too bad we couldn't bridge the gap. Half the fault is mine on that front. Maybe one day we'll mend the fence. I don't hate you and I wish you happiness. You're good people who did a shitty thing, and I can definitely relate. If I could give one piece of advice it's that your instinct should tell you who the real assholes in your environment are and to stay away from them. Don't ignore that instinct, they're the worst. Good luck! —Cady Heron

To the dancing Asian guy who was at the Roxy and Underground sound show at the SH: You made my night with your moves and finesse. Can you please teach the Halifax male populace so they stop looking like an offbeat deranged bag of zombies? Thx for the tips, I will use them. You’re the best! —BM

The kindness of neighbours

A few weeks ago, while I was walking at night near my home, I had a seizure that dropped me to the ground. I was twitching and incoherent, but people who only vaguely recognized me from the neighbourhood—people I'd never spoken to before—helped bring me to my door. I've always known that I live in a friendly part of this city, but was touched that near-strangers would take care of someone who probably looked for all the world like he was just falling-down drunk. For that, they have my thanks. —Crowfeeder

I Remember You

I remember when I wanted you back but you said not yet. I understood but then we both ended up in relationships. She's a babe btw- good job! Just wanted to say that I'm happy you're happy and it's so nice to see you the one time / year I go to a show even though it still feels like there's a unspoken tension between us. You were my favourite part to come out of my "life spiraling downhill until I got sober" chapter. —Foreigner Rules
