Good Food, Good People

TGFE you never cease to be one of the loveliest spots in the city. This morning was over-run with people ordering soup and Ghetto Sox, and in all the confusion the music didn't get turned on. Instead the restaurant with filled with the sound of guitar being picked up and passed around, and singing when the song was familiar. It's funny how a public space can feel so intimate. I didn't know anyone here today but felt like I was in my own living room. —Feeling Warm Hearted

Park and Push Hero

Posted on Thu, Feb 26, 2015 at 4:00 AM

A heartfelt thank you to the young man who helped us extricate our car from an icy, snow-filled airport parking lot at 3am. Returning from a trip south in the middle of a freezing night with two sick and tired kids, only to be stranded in a desolate lot, could have been much worse if you hadn't appeared in the distance and happily helped. Here's hoping your early morning flight took you somewhere as wonderful as you are! —Snowbanks in flip flops

Mr. Plow on Barclay Ave

Posted on Thu, Feb 26, 2015 at 4:00 AM

Thank you for doing a great job. It’s a small street but it’s on a hill and since the first plow we had was a disaster we hardly seen any plows since, so we have been screwed trying to get up some days. Our street has two pregnant ladies including myself and many seniors which makes snow removal extra hard on us. So I just wanted to say thanks for being awesome and actually taking the time to not only plow the road but fix the ends of all of our driveways too! You left before i could  really thank you so i hope you get this. :) —Barclay Ave

Special Feeling you seek is Right Here, Right NOW.

Posted on Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 10:49 AM

newillo-03.png

No matter what you might be going through, remember that, hidden in every second of your experience, lies that special feeling and sensation, that Peace Beyond Mind, that ancient people called 'Heaven', 'Salvation' or 'Paradise'. It is that warm calm that seems to radiate from your bones, unstoppable once activated. Do not be scared or discouraged by what you see or hear around you. Bravely seek within for that state of feeling-realization, at all times and as often as you can, making it your first priority( watch what happens!) that connects you to Life itself, and feel the liberation inside your solar-plexus when all 'problems' dissolve. You can smile richly and warmly Right Now. Simply see that, that insanely complex world of 'problems' and 'issues' occupying the wilderness of your mind, is illusory. All you have to do is anchor your attention in the Present and all that nonsense melts away. Feel your clothes against your skin. Are there any smells or sounds around you? You will begin to feel this incredibly liberating and satisfying Life Essence that I am on about. I really hope you all make it to The Land Where The Sun Shines Forever Within. Whatever is presently troubling you, no matter how horrible it may seem, bravely find that moment within and Accept it, Surrender to it and watch it change. Evil must pass once it is embraced with Love. Dont believe or disbelieve what I am saying, trying it for yourself and see what I am talking about. —The Part-Time Alcoholic busker with the beat-up black aocustic guitar, someone who cares.

I'm a Changed Person

Posted on Sun, Feb 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM

Most times, in the last few years I wait for a movie to come out on DVD to watch it. I like seeing a movies on the big screen but I've come to abhor the experience of going to the theater. The refreshment staff numbingly shuffling the sheeple through the line with the same ole schtick, upsize this, extra butter that, next please..... $40, $50, $60 dollars!!! omg, the stress of spending. As i say, i like the big screen show but hate the, what feels like; a scam experience to drain my bank account as much as possible. IF i did go out to see a movie i'd typically go to the crossing. WOW! no longer! That's all changed now, thanks to the BLIP SB Theater! I happened to get talked into seeing a movie on the weekend with some friends (not that 50SoG drivel). Reluctantly, i agreed. At the crossing it's like being a disaster victim waiting for FEMA to help; The long slow lines, the poor service and feeling like i was worth nothing more than the money they could squeeze out of me. It was busy when we showed up with people lined up almost to the door. After a minute or so, i noticed there was one young man who kept calling out for the next guest. I'm always suspicious of a line that moves to fast. i don't like to wait forever in line but i don't like to be shuffled through without much care either. Typical to my crossing experience. However, the young man that met us (initials RA) was probably the best serviceman I've ever come across. He met us with a smile, some small talk about the movie we were seeing and made the refreshment purchase a delight. He was funny, charming, and kind. I saw the customers served by RA before us, they had kids. Obviously RA has kids as well. he was engaging to the children and parents all while serving them their food. This staff member, imo, is the very best investment the theater ever made. Even if the theater went broke, had to show one movie all day everyday, in a tent, RA would make you feel as though you were lucky to be there and see it. Once seated and tucked into the show, i realized that i was oddly happy and enjoyed just sitting there waiting for the start of the movie. I'm usually a little sour from the experience but, not this time. I didn't care that i just spent half a days wage on refreshment. RA made me feel entitled and happy to be there. I don't know how he did it but i do know that it was a genuine experience. (i've worked in sales my whole life and you can't bullsh*t a bullsh*tter). I'm now a scene member, getting discounts and earning free movies and will only go to the BLIP theater and will only go to the station with this fine human behind it. I am a changed person and i'm proud to say I love love love going to the show again. Thank you RA. You are the Best!!! And to the management at SBT, Give this man a raise, either money or position or BOTH!!!! If more staff were trained like this, no one would rent a movie again. —We all end up end up

To the girl on the 52 who complimented my glasses today- I apologize for my lame reply. I'm always totally thrown off when strangers pay me compliments. What I should have said was, "Thank you so much- I love yours too. I wish I could pull off red like you do!" —Bespectacled and Befuddled

Dating failure

Posted on Sat, Feb 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM

I'm sorry for not replying to your texts. I'm sorry for no explanation. My life became a lot to handle, and though that is not really a valid reason it still happened and I apologize. I really did like you and enjoyed spending time with you. Apparently, I just can't handle dating, even more so online dating right now. I think you're a cool person and I wish you all the best in your life. —internet boy

Beautiful Neighbours and the Unknown Shoveler

Posted on Sat, Feb 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM

Big 'thank you's to my lovely neighbours who helped me dig out last week AND this week, even after tackling their own huge driveway ice boulders and frozen cars--you guys are the best! I was able to get my icy driveway cleared and car primed for work thanks to your awesomeness!! Special thanks also to the Unknown Shoveler who cleared away the crazy ice boulders from my driveway today (Sunday)--whoever you are you made my day so much easier, so much nicer. I hope the evening finds you all cozy and warm, and that your week is even sweeter. —Shesang

As it states not a day goes by that you are not on my mind. You are the love of my life, you know it and I know it. Our souls will always be attached even if we aren't mates. No one will ever understand us the way we do. You always know just what to say to make me feel good and exactly where to touch or hug to ease any pain or heartache. You have a heart of gold and always look so sexy and gorgeous to me. I will love you always and forever, my Fave you will be! I hope I get the chance to give you all of me! —Your #1 fan, if you ever need me you know where I am. Waiting to be your man!
