I am a nursing student. As such, I have clinicals which require me to be awake at ungodly hours. I also happen to be car-less, and rely entirely on Metro Transit to get me to the hospitals for 6:45am.
Luckily for me, the 80 goes by my place at roughly 6:27am. Over the course of my summer clinical, I caught this bus with its same driver and same passengers, getting off at the same stop, saying my obligatory "thank you" each time.
One morning I was running late. As I ran down the stairs of my apartment building and looked down the road, I could see the 80 coming toward me, already past my stop. I sighed in defeat, until.. miraculously.. the bus driver pulled the bus over so I could get on. Amazing! Never have I ever known a bus driver to do such a thing! I must have thanked him twenty times before sitting down, beaming. A few days later, I was running late again. I ran down the stairs of my apartment, and saw the 80 sitting at the stop. I walked toward it, expecting it to pull away, but no.. There it sat. And waited. "Not for me", I thought. I reached the bus, paid my fare, thanked the driver.. And the bus pulled away.
I couldn't believe it. This bus driver, with his hundreds of passengers a day, remembered me, noticed when I wasn't there, and waited. So, this is a great big giant THANK YOU to the moustached driver of the first 80 in the morning. I appreciate your kindness, and your patience did not go unnoticed.
P.S. Yesterday an 80 drove by me later in the morning. It was this driver, and wouldn't you know it - he waved to me! :) —Heather
