Palace Bouncers on Oct 14

Posted on Fri, Oct 23, 2009 at 7:21 AM

For years I've avoided ever going into the Palace because it's not my scene. It reeks of desperation and I've heard nothing but horror stories about useless, angry bouncers. When Flogging Molly was booked to play here at the Palace, I was dismayed, however I can't choose the venue, especially when punk rock venues have sadly diminished in this city. Yet on Oct 14th, I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Palace was at hosting this band and the hugely diverse crowd that convened there. They allowed moshing and at no point that I saw (I was in the pit so something could have happened on the outskirts) did anything get out of hand. I crowd surfed along with others and the bouncers guided all of us down to a safe area next to the stage. Anywhere else, we would have been kicked out. Amazing tolerance of us! My feet got pretty banged up and one of the bouncers even got a First Aid kit and put band-aids on my bleeding toe after the show! Kudos to the's good to see the Palace have some great representation!
