Missing you...

Posted on Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 10:11 AM

Missing Halifax, and the ocean. Missing the smells and the sights and the restaurants and everything. Especially missing one person in particular who lives in Halifax. *Sigh*

sheetcake joy

Posted on Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 10:10 AM

This is going back a few months but to whoever left the sheetcake out in front of the spring library for random public consumption: It was very thoughtful and made me very happy.

Rain makes me happy!

Posted on Sun, Aug 30, 2009 at 10:22 AM

No, it really does. Something about rain makes me warm and cozy. Its nice to just relax with a cat and a cup of tea, and not have to worry about the 100 other things I have to do. So while some complain about it, I'm truly happy.

Napier Family land donation to NS Nature Trust

Posted on Sun, Aug 30, 2009 at 10:18 AM

How cool is this: the Napier family from Purcell’s Cove “recently donated their family lands to the Nature Trust. This generous gift protects over 20 hectares of pristine and rugged wildlands overlooking the northwest arm. Undeveloped lakeshore, important fire barren ecosystems, and uncommon plants are now protected, forever. Part of the ‘Halifax backlands’, the site is also a treasured hiking area and haven for nature lovers." source www.nsnt.ca

Saying thank you doesn’t seem quite enough - this is awesome (and thanks) from one of many who truly appreciate what you have given.

To the Girl with the Great Big Blue SUV

Posted on Sun, Aug 30, 2009 at 10:16 AM

I have no idea if that's actually your car, but I stepped out in front of it at the Queen/Spring Garden intersection as you were trying to turn. I did have the right of way but that doesn't excuse my rude stare as you looked shocked and apologetic from behind the wheel. I'm sure that thing is tough to drive! Plus, you probably gave me the scare I need to be a little more cautious. It won't happen again!

Great Man in the Making

Posted on Sat, Aug 29, 2009 at 10:09 AM

To my daughter's camp counsellor who gave my daughter the benefit of the doubt. When I talked to you about an incident you showed such insight; even though looking at you I could guess you were barely old enough to drive. You spoke so highly of her and you really were trying to understand and work things out instead of whipping out the pen and paper and writing down a citation. You shared your sunscreen and you shared your friendship and you made sending my daughter to the club a whole lot easier. You even went as far as to make sure you got to say goodbye to her on her last day. I was pleased to hear you'll be returning in the fall, a great addition as far as I'm concerned. If this is your potential at 16 (ish) I'd think you're destined for great things. :)

Dude looking for 'gas money'

Posted on Fri, Aug 28, 2009 at 4:08 PM

Yesterday you stopped me and asked for gas money. Today it was a toonie for bus fare. Glad to hear that you've given up on cars and are taking advantage of our mass transit system!

The environment thanks you!

I love you North End!

Posted on Fri, Aug 28, 2009 at 2:33 PM

I just want to send some love to North End Halifax, which I will miss dearly when I move this weekend. I love you North End! I love walking through you to work, and the friendly shop owners (especially the smiling barber shop owner always standing in his door in the morning), and the way cars almost always let me cross before continuing their journeys. I love your grassroots feeling, the friendly neighbours, the community gardens and so much more.

I will miss you, but don't worry, I'll visit! After all, I still work there 5 days a week.

Thanks lady cop

Posted on Fri, Aug 28, 2009 at 2:32 PM

Thank you to the lady cop who didn't throw me in the drunk tank when I got locked out of my apartment saturday night. I know I was very drunk and yelling for 3 hours trying to wake someone up to let me in, and I disrupted the neighbours (that's why you were called). You were very understanding of my situation and when I said i was just going to fall asleep on the front steps you allowed me and said you could come check up on me in a few hours.

Kind soul on the 7th floor

Posted on Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 11:19 AM

I just want to send out a thanks to the guy that works on the 7th floor of the medical building on Portland St.

Friday morning I left school to go see the doctor as I was suffering from heat exhaustion and severely dehydrated, not realizing the clinic wasn't open until 9am, and I was there shortly after 8am. You came and offered assistance, getting me water to hydrate me and ginger-ale to help settle my stomach because I was puking so much.

Just want to say thank you! I really appreciated it, it means a lot to me. (By the way, I'm fully recovered now!)

The Glasses Finder

Posted on Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 11:17 AM

They aren't mine, they wouldn't look good on me. However whoever found the blue pair of glasses on Jubilee Road, nailed a piece of paper with "FOUND GLASSES" in red sharpie on their front step's railing and placed said glasses on top of the railing is really awesome. Coming from a person who has lost multiple pairs of ridiculously expensive glasses, I thank you for your kindness and going the extra mile in not only making the person who owns these glasses happy, but every person that walks by your steps and smiles because you helped a complete stranger.

Bonus

Posted on Sun, Aug 23, 2009 at 10:13 AM

This is a thank-you to the friendly girl who sneaked three bonus chicken fingers into my two-piece snack pack. You told me apologetically that all you had left were drumsticks and wings, and I said that was fine, whatever you had was good. I guess you still felt you had to make up for it. I didn't even realize it until I got my snack pack home and started to chow down. Thanks for being so nice!
