I was absolutely disgusted to read the bitch bemoaning panhandlers on Spring Garden Road last week. If you're more uncomfortable by people standing/sitting in one place with a Tim Horton's cup asking you for change than people living in your city falling into such extreme impoverishment, you really need some serious reorganizing of your values. I have lived here for 20-plus years I have never once been chased down, screamed at, or verbally abused by a Spring Garden Road panhandler when I couldn't fulfill a request for change. Instead, I was often met with a 'have a nice day', 'that's okay', or even the occasional 'god bless'. I say this as somebody who would very frequently walk up and down that street to go to class or work for more than a decade. I really hope you never find yourself in circumstances where you have to choose between panhandling and going hungry.—Maybe re-evaluate what actual 'harassment' is

Allow me to start by saying that (for the most part) the cab drivers I've interacted with have been nice people to talk to, and seemingly good hard-working people. I have (for the most part) nothing against the people who work as cab drivers. (Exception to the cab drivers who have sexually assaulted or harassed women, men and non-binary friends— not cool and you suck.)

Where my issue lies is that the taxi business is a protected economy which never made sense to me, because they generally have crappy service. It's not uncommon that I have to wait 20 minutes and it's not uncommon that the taxi driver takes me on a long scenic route.

As I wait for the cab, I watch all of the cars going in the same direction I need to be going, and it's not lost on me that if HRM had Uber or Lyft then any one of those cars who passed me could have earned $10 from me and we both would've been on time and satisfied.

Where I get really cranky about this is that the city protects the interests of the business rather than the interests of its people.

There are better solutions and better business models than taxis out there that address these issues so that they are less of an issue. So I don't feel like it's unfair to expect better. I mean, adapt or die right? What are your thoughts? Am I missing something?

So they won to have it removed because it was offensive due to Cornwallis infamous proclamation, never mind nobody mentioned the Mi’kmaq took scalps first. But that's ancient history. Now will the city council have the guts to remove all statues and references on Remembrance Day to the RCAF who bombed millions of innocent women and children in German cities during the war? Or was that acceptable because the Luftwaffe did it first?  What makes one less palatable than the other? —History Is Brutal

You are the most inclusive community I know. It is an honour to hang with you. I think it is time to step up your game and add one more letter. S as in straight. —SLGBTQ Supporter

How sad you once again killed off the commenters on LTWWB. You realize they are the best part of your rag, right? Was it in response to challenges made to your reporters? And closing comments before allowing them? How sad. —Sad LTWWB Fan

For all of the MLAs who voted in favor of the recent legislation to force a contract on teachers, and undermine their constitutional rights, lets make a commemorative plaque which will bear their names and leave a historical record of their actions.

This could be a good fundraiser for the labour movement with moneys raised being donated to foodbanks.

Perhaps also a specially dedicated website hosted by the unions listing the MLAs'  names and pictures and a space where people can post comments showing their appreciation for the work of their elected officials.

I don't think I would call it the Labour Hall of Fame though.  Perhaps there is some other name which could be used. —Plaque Girl

What a shame that this once fine forum has gone right down the tubes simply over one factor: NO new bitches. The last few weeks have been positively wretched without my bitch fix! Can't the moderator pump out a few bogus ones just to get the blood going? —Sigh. Waiting....waiting....

To the dumb ass's who responded to my bitch about where is the military: First with reserves we have over 100,000 troops so that takes care of you. Next all military members must pass fire fighting training,so in answer to this guy they would use the equipment all ready there to let those who have been going 23 hours a day have a break, done with you. Next yes we would feed them just as we are feeding them here so no cost, transporting them would be done with military aircraft cost would be fuel only as we own the aircraft. So the cost to get there and help would be saved from the savings of $ being lost to the stoppage of work being done and the cost of all those people being on employment insurance. Not to mention the loss of all those homes trees and wildlife. So if you don't know what you are talking about fuck off. —getter done

I find it amazing that you Zombies are quick to continue the zealous bickering. One can only assume everyone is getting sick of it. If the coast had a filter button to not even display certain people's comments would you use it? Who is the one AND ONLY ONE Id you would filter out if it were available?
