I was walking down the sidewalk today when I was literally forced off it by two women walking side by side. I had to step around their selfish asses and got a headful of water running off the shop's eavestrough above, ruining my hair! Learn some sidewalk etiquette, people! If you're walking down the sidewalk with another person, merge right and fall into single file so the person coming toward you can pass. Share the sidewalk, assholes. Next time, I'll yell right in your face to "MOVE bitch!" The same goes for people in stores who leave their shopping wagon in the middle of the narrow aisles and pretend they don't see you trying to get around them. You are not the only person on earth. Get some couth, you damn dickheads!

I read the Loves all the time hoping someday one will be from someone who noticed me on a bus or at the grocery store and wished they'd said something. Many of these are clearly written about my friends or people I know who get noticed in a "missed connections" kind of way and maybe it's petty of me, but… how come I never get written about? I'm a hell of a woman. Not as thin as my younger prettier friends who get written about? Hmm. Or am I just "intimidating" like they say? I'm not! I'm friendly and approachable! I love people! Unless you're a creep. Then you can fuck right off. Maybe it's just creeps who write in? What does that make me? Oh shit.

I just had a cheat day from my diet and boy, was it a mistake. After clean eating for a few weeks, I bought a bag of potato chips. OMG what a sodium bomb! I feel my blood pressure rising with every bite. Why is there so much sodium in everything these days? I bought cheesies and sour cream & bacon chippies, but I can barely stomach them! They taste toxic. Food companies need to lower the salt in their products—it's getting ridiculous. It's not even palatable!

I love my community library, but the school kids are using it to make out in during the school days. Staff turn their backs—thanks! Now I genuinely hate going to the library because it's like milď soft porn with teens. Yuuuuck.

Halifax landlords—stop being slum lords! Every place I've lived in has had rats, utility issues or a bed bug problem. Ive paid my rent and have had all my included services cut. Dude it's not my fault you went bankrupt. Don't take it out on me by shutting off my power for over two weeks now...I'd literally be better off camping. —Cold/Hungry/Powerless Tenant

I am SO done with this rat-infested city. I live in Clayton Park, lots of new construction going on etc., and for two years now I have been paying money for pest control. A fee that I can barely afford at that. It doesn't help to have asshole neighbours that insist on feeding the birds/squirrels/stray cats, or open compost bins, gardens etc. After the amount of cash I have been spending for rat control through a local company, I still saw a big fat fucker sitting outside my back door today. My neighbours take my warnings as  a joke, but hey...Go ahead and leave your front door wide open. Go ahead and leave that bird food out. I too would love to feed the birds, but take your head out of your ass and realize that RATS ARE A PROBLEM IN OUR HOOD. I am sooooo sick of paying money for something that won't ever help due to idiot neighbours. Not to mention that Halifax council only thinks the rats bother tourists downtown. I can't even enjoy my patio now, I am too squicked out. Getting ready to leave Halifax now, I shouldn't be scared of my own yard. Grrrrr. —Fed Up

The longer I live in Halifax, the more I disagree with the goings on at City Hall! This will be the busiest year ever for tourism in Halifax, so what is the city going to do for the event? They will tear up one of the  busiest tourist areas in the city. They are telling the restaurants in the area that they can't have any decks this year. Think of the business they will lose. No wonder they are suing developers! I'm sure the tourists will have many nice photos to send to friends and families, if they can get the rat out of the picture! —Who makes these decisions?

This bar in Halifax has taken away reviews on their facebook page after another band posted their distaste for the way bands were treated. Only harassing young women when a man smokes out the bathroom. Asshole booking guys who threaten to sue people. Silencing reviews when people voice their concerns. Insulting bands that play and how they dress. Sucky watered down beer. —Someone who is taking their business elsewhere

Okay, I get it. We are in a city and there are rodents everywhere. HOWEVER the city needs to do SOMETHING about the rat issues in residential areas. It is getting quite out of hand. We have had a rat issue in our neighbourhood and with new construction it is getting much, MUCH worse. They are digging tunnels and getting in the walls, basements and homes. We have trapped, poisoned and called exterminators. This has cost a lot of time and resources and it SUCKS FOR TENANTS! We shouldn't have to be paying full rent for rat-infested apartments. Sure they look nice and well kept...until you can't sleep at night. Can't HRM do something to help? —Murderer of at LEAST 25 rats and counting Older Entries »
