Share the sidewalk!

Posted By on Thu, Sep 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM

Here in Nova Scotia our populace is still small enough that we extend courtesy to those around us, especially on the sidewalks. I understand if you come from a place where this is not the case, but if you are a guest here, please leave your disregard for others at the door.

If looks could kill

Posted By on Sun, Jul 14, 2019 at 8:00 AM

Really, former employer, do I intimidate you that much? I saw a former employer around town a year after they fired me. I kindly said 'Hi.' What I got in return is an eye roll and the dirtiest look I’ve ever seen someone give. —Kill them bitches with kindness

No candy for you!

Posted By on Tue, May 14, 2019 at 2:29 PM

I work in an office building and I have a candy bowl at my desk for all employees to come by and enjoy taking a candy whenever they please. But, when one individual comes by every day and grabs a handful, I'm thinking about closing down the candy shop. It's not fair for the others, since I'm trying to be nice. I can't afford to refill the bowl if this keeps up.

I'm sick of watching the owner of a particular “local” establishment on Gottingen Street scream at his staff and treat them like servants. His total lack of respect for them is appalling and no one should have to deal with that abuse. Stop drinking and start respecting the people that make your establishment amazing. —Just Trying to Shed Some Light

What's with the shitty face?

Posted By on Wed, Sep 6, 2017 at 4:00 PM

Look, just because I hold the door for you doesn't mean I'm trying to sleep with you! It's so lousy of you to sneer at me like I'm doing something wrong—it’s called being polite. I would hold the door for anyone walking a reasonable distance behind me, or exiting when I want to enter. I don't even expect people to say “thanks" anymore, but to actively look at me like I'm a piece of shit? Just uncalled for and it really puts me in a bad mood. —Just Trying to be Polite

Bullies in the 902

What? no “thanks?”

Posted on Thu, Oct 27, 2016 at 4:00 AM

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's people who don't say “Thank you” whenever I hold a door open for them! It really pisses me off! I'm not asking for your life's blood, nor am I asking for you to bow or curtsy to me. But there are two simple words which should be spoken. Seriously, I'm not kidding here! I'm not shy when it comes to saying “You're welcome,” when you clearly cannot be bothered to say “Thank you.” Or is that being too much to ask? —Disgruntled Door-Holder in Dartmouth

To the sad, old dip-shit with the hacksaw

Posted on Thu, Oct 20, 2016 at 4:00 AM

I was crossing at Agricola and Robie, stoked on the sunshine. I saw you rapidly approaching with a tool in hand. Thinking you were in a hurry to cross the street, I moved out of your way. You turned and screamed at me, “It's a f**cking saw, girly, not a gun.” Your verbal assault ruined my perfect day, and f**k you, too, the many onlookers who said nothing. —Sad North Ender

Local Reporter

Posted on Mon, Sep 5, 2016 at 4:00 AM

A man is violently robbed and assaulted on August 28 off of Waverly Rd. and a certain local reporter posts several photographs of the victim's home on social media. I asked the reporter if she thought the man had been through enough, without having photos of his home posted on the internet. They told me they post pictures of any crime scene. How would you feel if that were you or your loved one? Yes, it's a crime scene but it's also the home of the innocent person that was violently robbed an assaulted. Why add even more trauma and suffering to them? I hate the world we live in. —Terrible world, terrible humans

I do have a name!

Posted on Fri, Jul 29, 2016 at 4:00 AM

To the person in my apartment who keeps calling me “scuffy:” Yeah, I do scuff my feet, but I do have a name and there is a lot more to me than that. It just hurts even more that your kid thinks this is funny and thinks my name really is scuffy. Most of us teach our kids not to make fun of people with big noses or too short or whatever, but it just looks really bad when the adults are setting a bad example. —Fed Up With One-Sided Presumption

Grand Marshall of the dirtbag section

Posted on Thu, Jul 28, 2016 at 4:00 AM

To the lowlife at the Pride parade who decided to light a cigarette two feet from our toddlers and a newborn then loudly proclaimed, “We were here first, suck my dick!” when I politely asked he move it away from them: Had it not been a community event with my kids, I would have reacted with much, much less restraint. I usually wish lung disease on no one, but for you I'll make an exception. P.S. Your friends and your community are ashamed to be around you. They told me so themselves. —Daddy No Punchy Facey

Father (?) and son on a bike ride Saturday morning

Posted on Fri, Jul 1, 2016 at 4:00 AM

This story may qualify under the way we love comments, as this Dad may indeed love his son. It was not evident today however. As my friends and I emerged from a walk through Camp Hill Cemetery onto Robie St,. we heard loud angry shouting. A helmeted man, straddling a bike was yelling at a boy on the other side of Robie St., finally ordering him to come and "Ride in front of me! "As the boy wrestled with his bike and started to cross, a car heading south blared the horn and barely missed the child. You again shouted in anger: "What is wrong with you!?! Aren't you paying attention??” The child was indeed paying attention trying to comply with your directive. You should have crossed that busy street to accompany him. It up to you to protect him and look after him. That's your job. He’s probably scared of you. It is damaging to a child's self esteem to yell at him. He is just young and inexperienced. But more is expected of you. Try to get some parenting lessons. If you don't stand up for him, who will? If he had been hurt, it would have been your responsibility. —worried
