We can hear you

The downtown bars are closing. It's 3am on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. You're walking home with your friends—perhaps to the townhouses halfway down Duncan Street. The street looks dark and deserted, as if you're the only ones here—but inside all of those houses are your neighbours. We can hear your voices and everything you're saying. Why? Because our front bedrooms are only 20 feet away from the sidewalk and you just woke us up. Are we annoyed? You bet we are. You may not have to get up at 7am, but we do. —Your Neighbours
