No young'uns at the Jazz fest tent? Really?

Posted on Mon, Jul 15, 2013 at 3:10 PM

The purpose of the Jazz fest is to promote local music and encourage Haligonians to get out and enjoy music, right? Shouldn't we, under 19ers, be entitled to go as much as anyone else? Hell, we can go to a pub for lunch, without a guardian, where people are drinking beer all around us, and no one gives a toss... but when it's a concert, it's a huge no-no. Come on. Jazz originated in bars where alcohol was consumed illegally anyway. —Angry Future Jazz Fest Performer

What should Halifax do about Aribnb?

  • Limit the number of listings one person can have
  • Charge a per-night fee that funds affordable housing
  • Limit Aribnbs to actual home-sharing only
  • Set a cap for percentage of a neighbourhood that can have Airbnbs
  • Leave it be and let the market sort itself out
