Commuter solidarity and mutual respect

Posted on Mon, Apr 22, 2013 at 10:17 AM

Cars don't want us on the road, bylaws don't want us on the sidewalks, there are close to 0 bike lanes, there are huge pot holes and debris everywhere, cars honk at us for going even a little bit away from the curb to avoid such potholes and debris and nobody going down Quinpool towards the rotary at around 4pm gives a flying fuck about the speed limit. Yea it's warm weather now, which means it's time to fear for my life everyday while I ride my bike to work in this city. I think everyone should have to spend one day as a cyclist, a driver, a pedestrian, and a bus taker just so that we can all start to understand the horrible transportation situation that ALL Haligonian commuters have to live with. We all have to get somewhere, and it's a pretty shitty journey for us all. —I'm Not Your Enemy, Halifax City Planners Are
