I get it. You almost got hit by a car. I am not debating that. But before you go off your rockers and start blaming the person driving the car, did you remember to do something you learned before you went to preschool? Look both ways before crossing the damn road!!! Even if it is a crosswalk. I have encountered countless times when I see people just walk into the crosswalk without making an attempt to look to see if traffic even sees you. You successfully crossing the road is a "two way street," the driver and the pedestrian. Wouldn't you want to know that the cars at least see you before jumping in the road, or just go in and try your luck? I always slow down before coming to a crosswalk or have my foot over the brake pedal just in case, but I don't know where every crosswalk is in this city, or let alone the jaywalkers. It also goes for the ones with the flashing lights, the other day a guy walked in the road two steps, then decided to hit the lights.
I've walked the city streets many times and know what it is like to have people fly by you, but people gotta start doing their "mental" part and at least make sure you are seen by drivers before walking in. I hope no one ever gets hit crossing the street, but do your part too.
Oh, and finally, STOP CROSSING THE ROAD AND TEXTING. Pay attention to traffic for a few seconds. Your FB, twitter or email can wait. –Drivers Are People Too
