So I am on the bandwagon of young people who are struggling financially and starving for a real job. I have a measly minimum wage part-time temporary job that terminates August 20. I have been applying to every possible place left, right and centre, while also seeking out opportunities that relate to my degree. I get a message back from one of such opportunities---I can't even get an interview because I'm not on EI and I'm a recent graduate and need two years in the workforce (even though I've held jobs every year since I was 17). On top of many jobs now providing no training and demanding various certificates for every little thing on top of awful pay (Certificate of Breathing, anyone?), this is put on the table now too. I have to be unemployed, suffering to such a degree I need EI, THEN I can almost apply for the job! Hiring a fresh mind straight out of school is a no-go, instead I should work at McShits for a few years. This seems terribly backwards. I guess NS Employment wants more unemployed adults by preventing qualified people from getting work. —Professionally Broke
