Don't be surprised

Posted on Mon, Jun 18, 2012 at 12:08 PM

As I sit here and try to enjoy a beautiful afternoon, it is once again obvious that the neighbours have zero parenting skills. Because once again their yard is the scene of total mayhem. And for literally hours now I (along with all the people around here) I have had to put up with screaming kids. Literally screaming. Repeatedly, over and over, about nothing. It's right next door, I can see that these kids have no idea at all how to get along. They aren't playing. I was a kid, and realize there are times when kids make noise, sometimes a lot of noise. But continual screaming, day after day (no exaggeration) is a sign of very poor, if not non-existent parenting skills. Especially when they sit out on the deck and act like everyone should have to put up with their poorly behaved kids. No they don't complain to you, the so-called adults, because it's obvious you don't give a shit about the peace and quiet. It's called respect for others in case you don't know. I played outside like most kids growing up, but if we were screaming as much and as often as these kids, it was brought to our attention that there were more people in the neighbourhood than us. If we need to make that kind of disturbance, to bring it indoors. These idiots that think you need to indulge every whim a kid has, and to let them believe it has no effect on those around them, are in for a rude awakening when they show they have no regard for anyone, parents included. So don't be surprised that you are contributing to their own lack of respect for you, the parents. —Try Showing a Little Respect
