Getting Nowhere Fast

Posted on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 10:52 AM

Okay, this is getting annoying, to say the least. I work. I pay taxes. I contribute to EI. So, when I need help why can't I get it? I was not asked to be let go from my job. I bent over backward for the bitch (coming in early, staying late etc.). I increased her sales and marketability. And I got paid. Fair enough. So, the bitch let's me go... no warning, no severance, nothing. Just 'That's it-- begone!'. So I applied for assistance where I lived. I couldn't get rent money so I had to leave my house. Also fair enough. I had to stay with some friends in a different city and applied for assistance again (in the same province, in the same country where I pay taxes) and I was told I had to wait sixty days. Apparently they think I was trying to pull a fast one even though I DID NOT receive any assistance in the first town I applied in. The worker suggested that I apply for EI in the meantime. I was not sure about that, but I did it anyway. A few days later I received an instruction sheet with an access code and instruction on when to file my reports. Okay, well that's good, I paid into it, I should be able to get some help. So I file my reports. Then get a phone call from Service Canada. THIS broad wants more clarification as the bitch is making shit up about things I did not do, or things that she did not do. So, now I can't get any help from either place. This is what working for nearly 30 years will get you—exactly NOTHING! All I want is a little help from the program (EI) that was set up for just such an emergency as this. In the 28 years I have been in the work force I have been on EI twice when contracts ran out and I was laid off. Someone told me I should have lied when I applied and said I was laid off this time as well. I wish I could lie. Then I might get some help. Stupid me. —Still Steamed
