Yield Means Yield

Posted on Wed, Nov 24, 2010 at 9:37 AM

To all the Halifax drivers who think that a Yield sign means alternating who gets the right of way (I go, you go)... YOU ARE WRONG! In particular the merge of Upper Water Street on to Barrington Street Northbound... The drivers on Barrington have the right of way and the mergers on Upper Water are supposed to yield. That means you ONLY go when you have space and please stop expecting me to stop or slow down when I'm on Barrington to let you in! I have almost creamed my car twice now in a few short weeks because of some weird, unspoken, unwritten Halifax rule-of-the-road where people think they can go. Yield means yield, people - slow down, look, go only if you have room!!!

(And while I'm at it, please don't create one long single lane of cars when merging on the MacDonald bridge just past the tolls. Get all the way up there and fill that space.) — I Know What Yield Means
