Why is food inflation overlooked?

Posted on Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 11:53 PM

I keep hearing that inflation is low in this country and the States and yet people are struggling to feed themselves because of ever increasing food prices.

I know that so called "core" inflation is what's counted and hence inflation is considered low. Core inflation basically is the rate of inflation for big ticket items. So let's talk about meat and potato inflation- flow up again 25%/coffee the cheap stuff up by about $1.50- roughly a 50% increase. Tell me are we being sold a bill of BS?—Food ain't cheap
