After 6 years, you are STILL an asshole

Posted on Thu, Jun 3, 2010 at 12:15 PM

This has been a long time coming! I can't remember what you look like, I can't even remember what kind of car you drive… but I won't forget the day we met for the rest of my life.

It was an unbelievably gorgeous day so my friend and I decided to take my little Boston Terrier to The Commons to play Frisbee. Things were going great until an excitable little puppy ran up to my dog to play. I had just let the leash go for only a moment and the puppy tore off, with my dog chasing closely behind.

I could see it coming, I could feel what was going to happen next; it felt awful. My heart sank and my stomach jumped up into my throat, I could barely scream for my dog to stop running but it was useless. I ran as fast as I could to catch his leash but I was too late, YOUR car was faster.

Just seconds before the wheels of your car rolled over my dog's head; I could see it all playing in slow motion, it really was like in a movie. I could hear the speed of your car, I screamed "NO!" & immediately fell into some sort of shock. How fast were you going DICKHEAD?...75...80km?... on a road that sat between a playground and a field where 100's of people play sports and take their dogs every day?? The sign clearly said 50km, what was so important that you thought you should be able to go faster than anyone else on the road?

Because of your actions, I witnessed my dog nearly get crushed by your car. I know accidents happen; I know I should not have dropped the leash, but this is not why you are an ASSHOLE.

You're an ASSHOLE because after you sent my dog tumbling 40 ft down the street, I picked him up in my arms and cried for help…for someone to take me to the Vet...what did you do?? You tried to get away! And when that didn't work, you got back out of your car and approached me while my dog CONVULSED in my arms & said "just leave him on the side of the road, he's dead" and began walking back to your car!

I couldn't see anything through my tears. A woman came out of nowhere and gave me a blanket to wrap my dog in, I looked toward the man that was now walking away and cried "why aren't you helping me?" You did nothing. It was then that my friend grabbed my dog out of my arms (now bleeding from his ears, eyes, nose, and mouth) and ran to your car. He opened your car door and told me to get in. My head was spinning and I had no idea what was going on, I just wanted to help my dog.

I can't believe we had to make you take us to a hospital that was only THREE blocks away!! Ahhhhh & what were those comforting words you uttered when we got in the car? ..."don't get any blood on the seat"… NICE. And who was that BEAST of a woman driving with you? Her conscience seemed to be lost as well. She said nothing the entire time… yeah, you're an ASSHOLE too.

I was in such a panic to get to the hospital to save my dog that I hadn't realized what shitty people you were, until he was safe.

I stayed with my dog as long as I could. They thought he was going to die so we placed him in 24 emergency care overnight. The next morning I came to transfer him myself, back to the vet. He was so happy to hear my voice, he had two detached retinas & was now blind but who cares… he was alive!

The doctors were astounded to see him recover from such an impact. They even said it was as if it was my presence that was making him better, so they released him. I brought him back the next day for the doctor to check his progress and he was doing well considering, so I went to pay the bill.

The secretary at the front desk handed me a card & said "this is for you", it said: "To Leo and your Master, we hope this helps and we wish you a speedy recovery… god bless". Immediately I thought it was YOU but it was the woman that had given me the blanket to wrap my dog in and her husband. Aside from the beautiful card, they paid $200 on my vet bill and gave a voucher for their favorite dog store to get a brand new, customized dog collar.

I could not believe my eyes! It turned out that you were still an ASSHOLE but it didn't matter anymore… there were other, beautiful people standing off to the side, anonymously willing to help… and my dog was NOT dead… I was happy.

So why did I write this? … I guess I just want you to feel like an ASSHOLE.—I love my dog
