Barrington coffee shop

Posted on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 5:02 PM

I used to buy coffee and meals here a lot. Then I went one day after being fired and the death a close relative; I was v. sad and distracted. I was just hoping to enjoy my coffee and lunch. But a worker I will call "Ms. Attitude" was working. (She knows who she is—perhaps other customers will also know who she is.) She always seems to sneer, never smiles, radiates an "I'm too good for this job" vibe & does not respond to polite comments like "Thank you" or "Could I please have a napkin?"

Ms. Attitude blasted me when I ordered one item and mistakenly referred to it by another name a moment later. I mean blasted. I am not an overly-sensitive person but I began to cry. Such unnecessary meanness, for no reason at all, other than that I am not cool like Ms. Attitude herself. The other person working was embarrassed and did not charge me for the item, but this isn't the point.

I am a loyal customer but now I only visit the Spring Garden location, because of Ms. Attitude's hateful attitude. I am a clean, polite customer who spends a fair bit of money and doesn't cause any trouble for staff, or look down on them. You, Ms. Attitude, have cost your location my business and the business of my friends. I understand that we all can't be as hip as you, but please have some manners, smile now and then, and consider that however bad your life may be (I have no idea), there may be others having a rough time too. Thanks. —Conflicted Fan
