Although I am one of the very fortunate people to still have their job in this tough economy, I'm always on the lookout for something better, to move my career along. So I went to a local Beacon website that posts lots of jobs. Sounds good right? Especially when I click on Marketing/Communications (my field of choice) and see tonnes of new postings.
Except: more than half of the postings aren't for people who work in marking/communications. We've got financial advisor, human capital (I think that's HR, but I'm not even sure), inside sales, one looking for an electrical technologist, a coordinator position looking for someone with an engineering degree, plus a dozen government jobs looking for records analysts, research and statistics officers and administration positions with a "relevant degree" for qualifications. I am smart enough to wade through this mess and find relevant job postings. However, most of these positions have their own categories on said website, so why the hell are they in Marketing/Communications?---know your audience
