Why does Boss Hogg come to mind?
Something about this makes me nervous.
Especially since I don't think it so much about enforcing the law as it is about the money, as he says:
"early payment of fines in return, for example, for a reduced driving suspension". What does that mean? Give us the money and we will revoke (to a degree) your punishment? Well, this will be make it much easier for the haves, but the have nots will have to do the full punishment plus pay the fine.
What if the revenue gained, like gambling revenue, becomes addictive? We will be ticketed up the wazoo. Leniency/warnings will be a thing of the past.
That's why Boss Hogg comes to mind! Remember he would put up fake speed limit/parking signs in order to gain revenue from the tickets issued?---apprehensive good ol' boy
