Abolish Skateboard helmet laws in Halifax!
If you don't skateboard you probably think that the semi-new law that forces skateboarders to wear helmets is a great idea. I am bitching to tell you that it isn't.
To begin the Police force is funded by our tax dollars. They are wasting our tax dollars by NOT addressing the majority. Skateboarding amounts for 0.28 admissions, per thousand annually and the vast majority of these injuries involve fractures and broken bones not head injuries. Bicycling on the other hand has twice as many injuries as skateboarding. Yet you don't see the police sneaking up on all of the bicycle 'hot spots' giving out 135$ fines and confiscating bikes.
It is time for the Skateboarders of Halifax to speak out and stand up against this law.
