Neighbourly Advice

To the brand-new, month old, tenants directly below me. Here's some tips on how to be a better neighbour.

1. Turn your bloody heat down! I know where you came from it's 30 degrees in the shade, but here in Canada, we usually keep the heat set around 20 in the winter. I can't turn on my own heat, because if I do, it's way too warm but if I don't, it gets damp real quick, so I do and I deal with the ensuing sauna. I haven't slept well since you moved in.

2. Turn your music down! During the day is okay, but after 10 at night and we're winding down, it's not okay. Most of us don't enjoy the latest release from whatever Lebanese pop star you're listening to and we need to work the next day.

3. If that noisy thing you call a bird gets out of it's cage, don't go running around your apartment yelling at it. The bird doesn't understand human speech and yelling at it makes it upset, making it more difficult to catch.

I've approached you before, out of a good neighbourly gesture and asked you to stop at least 2 of these three things (mostly fearing the increase in rent due to the amount of power you must waste on a daily basis), understanding that you're new to the building. Since you haven't stopped, I've told the super and the landlord. Have fun finding a new apartment!
