I'm wondering if people have forgotten what manners actually are. "You're welcome" and "Thank you" seem to have become extinct. If I am walking through a door and someone is behind me, I will hold it open for that person. If someone holds it open for me, I always respond with 'Thank you'. If someone actually does remember to thank me when I provide this courtesy, I say 'You're welcome'. Is it that difficult to do this in kind? I will still hold the door and respond accordingly to someone doing the same for me, is it too much to ask for a 'Thank you' and 'You're welcome'? I thought Atlantic Canadians (even Canadians in general) were known for their politeness??
