You go into work everyday at the factory, the store, the mill, etcetera. You do back-breaking work all day that leaves you too physically drained to play softball in the evening. Your boss doesn't listen to you when you say a machine needs maintenance, then yells at you when it breaks down. You get laid off in the winter, and apply for government assistance. You fill out tons of forms, and wait a month before you see a cheque.
I go in for my first day at the government office. I fill out tons of forms and don't see a paycheque for a month. You come into the office on the 30th, angry at me because Y has happened "without warning". You're holding a letter dated the 1st that says "if you don't do X by the 25th, Y will happen." I do stressful work all day that leaves me too mentally drained to read a book.
And even I'm not immune to all the frustrations and runaround of dealing with the government.
P.S. I have been a physical labourer and despite the aches and pains, I found it an easier job than Public Servant.
