Why is no one questioning why the CBC isn't broadcasting the ECMAs this year?
You don't think that the fact the ECMAs are not being broadcast this year is because the CBC's terrified that if it continues to broadcast an awards show where presenters make comments like the federal Conservatives are "arse lickers of Satan" the CBC might have its funding cut? The CBC relies upon yearly funding which is completely controlled by the federal government, and if it shows itself as wanting to annoy the government by continuing to broadcast a live show where people who are not happy with the federal Conservatives are allowed to freely voice their views to the whole country, the federal Conservatives could very well cut the corporation's funding. It seems quite reasonable (given the way 'Canada's new government' is functioning) that the reason why there is no ECMA live broadcast this year is because the federal government (via the CBC) is punishing the unedited views of Atlantic Canadians? However, not to allow viewers, and voters, think that they are really being punished, CBC has chosen to present the ECMAs in a nicely edited special...hosted by a guy from Ontario. "Those East-Coasters are just so cute and folksy...just make sure they don't get to voice their real opinions, just the ones that are acceptable to Ottawa, the CBC, Ontario, Alberta, the Nova Scotia Dept of Tourism, etc."
