People need to get it through their heads that "Halifax" is actually much more than that just within the old city coundaries of 10+ years ago. There's a lot outside of the peninsula that is so often disregarded and forgotten in favour of obsessing over the latest plan to rejuvenate Barrington Street.

Take so often shat upon Dartmouth for example. There are great pedestrian neighborhoods within walking distance of the ferry, excellent parks and trails, lakes you can swim in, great shopping, etc yet it's a constant butt of jokes and prone to a distinct snob attitude of being on the "other side". Get real people. If you can afford to buy an 80 year old, run down yet still million dollar property in the south end fine but other than that, many parts of the peninsula leave a lot to be desired compared to other places.

If this city is actually going to someday decide to "be" a city then it will have to take in more than the current attitude does. Oh and while you're at it, consider the planned changes for the Dartmouth waterfront, locations for new venues, etc because they aint going to be put on Brunswick.
