The other day, as we were walking through the Public Gardens in downtown Halifax, we stopped to admire the swans. We noticed three maintenance workers working in the pond where the swans were. The curious swans were an annoyance to the workers, and the workers were trying continuously to shoo them away. The swans wouldn’t leave them alone. One of the workers then proceeded to jab at one of the swans with his rake. The swan was clearly in distress. This was disturbing and we hope it will not happen again.
