Published March 30, 2006.Akron/Family concert @ Stage Nine

This letter is directed at the fucking asshole towards the back of the room (@ Stage Nine) who thought it was OK to loudly pontificate with his friends, during most of Akron/Family’s set. Sure there were many other assholes, who thought it was acceptable to sit and talk with their friends, talk on cells etc., during the show, but none as offending as this one, very loud, bearded guy. Obviously, none of these jerks were truly fans of the group, nor likely even aware of Akron/Family (other than reading your article) and I wonder why they even bothered wasting their $8, rather than go to some other bar ! I finally had the sense to move closer to the stage and eventually I could focus on the phenomenal show. Akron/Family alternating between very quiet and riotous moments, cannot be fully appreciated when these inconsiderate jerks continue to talk over the quiet pieces. Some of us really did want to hear Ryan's angelic voice on the quiet pieces and not all the noise coming from the audience. Perhaps, many were the same assholes who found it necessary to talk throughout Feist’s entire set at the Marquee in January. Makes me wonder why I continue to go to shows in Halifax, when I have to put up with this!
