There’s so much blame to go around for the concert scandal: an absurd media-created “feud” between Halifax and Moncton; the desire of middle-aged councillors to rub elbows with aging rock stars; a bumbling mayor who thought he could get re-elected as a hip music promoter; a city bureaucracy that hid failing concert attendance numbers from the public; a ridiculously incompetent impresario and a provincial crown corporation that skimmed money from every deal, never mind if the contracts were legal or not. It just goes to show that Halifax hasn’t left its pathetic old boy reputation behind.
