To the editor,

Like it or not, and despite HRM's efforts to minimize impact on the Common and surrounding areas, the huge numbers of Rolling Stones fans will have a negative impact on the Common. You can make a difference with three simple actions. First, use public transit, walk or bike. Many extra buses will be in service. For bus routes and schedules, call 490-7000. Second, don't litter. Bring some bags along, and take out what you brought in. There will of course be trash containers, but they'll fill up fast. Avoid bringing fast food unless the packaging is recyclable. Bring drinks in recyclable containers. Don't bring glass bottles. Take your own food scraps, wrappers and drink containers home, where you can recycle them. If you smoke, don't toss up your butts. When you leave, please respect the surrounding neighbourhood and keep it clean. Finally, tell your friends. Following these simple guidelines will go a long way towards keeping the Common green.
