  • The Wax’s postponed CD release party is finally back.

It's been a long winter, but like the much-anticipated spring sun, Halifax is finally going to get its CD release celebration. The Wax was originally supposed to play this show in November but things didn't quite align. "The Marquee's liquor licence wasn't ready," says frontman Phyl La Ferriere, "finally we couldn't get it so we had to postpone the show." Since then, the band's been touring relentlessly in support of Waiting Room while keeping one ear to the next album and drumming up interest to the south. "We're always working," says La Ferriere. "We can't mention the name, but a US company is going to be promoting the band on radio." Another of The Wax's well-placed steps hint at good things to come. Meanwhile, it's time to stop waiting for Waiting Room and start dancing. "It's rock and electronic," describes La Ferriere. "Seven songs. A mix of upbeat and definitely hooky chorus, electronic mix. A good mix of that I'd say."

Saturday, April 6, 9pm, The Seahorse, 1665 Argyle Street, $8/$10
