I just attended yet another defensive driving course in northern Alberta as part of my commercial driving position and our employer has demanded a reduction in lane changes by company vehicles because apparently there are statistics out there that show every lane change puts you 28+% more likely to be involved in an incident cause by you or those around you.
Coming down a ramp onto the highway and you see a yield sign? That sign applies to your lane and adjusting your speed to find an opening between vehicles, there is no requirement for those on your left to move over.

Why Ottawa is housing, feeding and caring for these illegal newcomers is beyond comprehension when we have war vets and regular people having hard luck and living on the streets, begging for food and not receiving adequate health care, be it mental issues or physical ailments that might be partially to blame for their situations.
Legal Immigration is fine, my issue is with illegal immigration attempts where the feds kiss their asses with all kinds of gifts, including immediate healthcare, while we already have people on waiting lists for the same services.
Is there anyone in Ottawa that has a set of balls these days and can say "no"?
Did you look up to see if you were in a no stopping zone? I doubt the meter maid accused you of being parked there, unless you had actually shut off your car during those five seconds. In that case you'd be parked but who shuts off their car for 5 seconds.
I bet the time was a lot more than you stated and you got busted.
