I could have gone for more, even

I saw a last minute house show advertised on ye olde Facebook with buds/awesome band Teenanger and seeing as I haven't seen those folks in forever, I was stoked to go. I walked onto a roof on Queen and straight into Ty Segall. They played a surprise cover set (including a GG Allin cover, YES) and I lost it. So good, and there were a small group of people there so I could actually see. Photos fell by the wayside due to excessive laughing and dancing instead. The the cops came and stopped the party and I tried to get my friend James to stick a daisy in one of their guns. No dice.

Then it was off to try and see Dum Dum Girls at Lee's Palace. However, I left the party late and was cutting it close. Thanks to the miracle of texting I was informed that the set was not going great. No banter and leaving after 30 minutes to play a secret show somewhere else. I mean, really? So I changed course and got to the Horseshoe early to see OFF! again. I am an addict now.

The pit was oppressive so I had to stand back, and Keith Morris talked a lot more this time. Was it just me or did his band look tired of it? There was an extended discussion about whose shoe was thrown onstage. Someone did a wimpy stage dive and then that was dissected. But the songs are undeniably amazing, I am still in love.

Then Ty Segall were playing again at Wrongbar and it was a good time to catch up with more pals so I booked it over. Another amazing set, this time with a trillion more people. There was coordinated stage diving and someone with a bloody face who did a great job singing while Ty fell into the crowd.

Not bad, Toronto.
