Known as much for its laid-back, relaxed atmosphere as for its homemade bread and hearty daily specials, this community restaurant north end favourite. Look for some of the best fishcakes and chutney in town, along with the favourite of many (including certain Coast staff) the Ghettosocks sandwich (with avocado, tomato and cheese).

$10 for a hot, super filling chicken pesto oven melt on beautiful, fresh, thick bread with a huge side of spinach salad loaded with mushrooms and cheese, delicious coffee, wonderful, comfortable atmosphere and cozy, sweet service?
I'm coming back for sure. What a lovely Friday experience.
Service is fast, friendly and reliable. Food is how you would make it at home if you had the time, ingredients and top-level kitchen facilities. And personally, I love the homey, unpretentious feel of the decor. It's my favourite lunch spot in the city.
[On a side note, I think outliers like Pandamnation's ridiculous one-star rating should not be counted in the overall score.]
this is one of my favs in halicentral - great service, wonderful food especially the brunch served on Sat& Sun is amazing!
They make the best bread and cookies in the world!! Especially if you are lucky enough to get them still-warm from the oven, such a treat!
Although I haven't delved too far into their menu, the sandwiches are excellent, as was the soup I've tried. Lots of healthy and vegetarian options, and great prices. I love knowing this friendly little eatery is just around the corner.
