The Violet Archers
Sunshine at Night
With the Rheostatics officially retired, former bassist/singer Tim Vesely has plenty of time to concentrate on his band, The Violet Archers. The group's second album, Sunshine at Night, reflects the unhurried reality he's experiencing and enjoying in the second stage of his music career. The band plays most often with a light touch and slow pace to support Vesely's deeper, flatter vocal tones. Consequently listeners may drift off at times. But with close attention, you can hear metaphors at work ("Themesong" about the Archer himself), thoughtful takes on one's relationship with the world ("Listening" and "Suffocates") and other people ("You and I," "Truth").
