Sometimes when something's right, it just falls into place...and quickly. That's the story behind gypsy-folk bluegrassers The Modern Grass Quartet. Officially, they've only been a band for a few months and already, they're releasing a pretty seamless debut album. "I think it's the fact that everyone in the band is completely dedicated to music...we played a ridiculous amount together in a short time," says lead singer and guitar player Tom Terrell of the self-titled release. The jazz-trained music student met bandmates Adam Pye and Andrew Sneddon (of The Moonshine Ramblers) and Donald MacLennan shortly after moving from BC a couple of years ago and has been jamming with them in some capacity since. After playing showcases at the ECMAs The Modern Grass and The Ramblers will pile into their trusty van and take the country by storm on their "Prohibition Tour." So get yourself a bluegrass fix while you can, they won't be back in town 'til July.

Friday April 8, The Seahorse Tavern, 1663 Argyle Street, 10pm, $8
