To the editor,
Bruce Wark's editorial "Critical bias" (July 27) was sadly hypocritical, attacking as it did bias in the mainstream media through the use of bias in this paper. Two quick things: The article says, "The mainstream Canadian media depict groups like Hamas and Hezbollah as fanatical terrorists bent on Israel's destruction...." The article should have noted that these groups declare themselves dedicated to Israel's destruction, in print and online. This fact makes the mainstream media's depiction accurate. As to "fanatical," well, people can be "militant" about breastfeeding and non-smoking, but when they bring that intensity to destroying a nation, they're "fanatical." The mainstream media isn't perfect, but on this occasion they did a better job than Mr. Wark of honestly informing the public. Two wrongs don't make a right.
