The Last Exorcism: Part II

Even Satan needs a car

The continually ending end of exorcisms continue in the unfortunately amusing scary movie, The Last Exorcism: Part 2. Ditching the found-footage aesthetic of its predecessor, this sequel finds teenage demonic vessel Ashley Bell alone, amnesiac and put into a hazy New Orleans' home for wayward girls. She makes some friends, flirts with boys and everything seems fine until her old satanic cult comes calling. With only tangential relations to the previous film, not to mention a hastily shoehorned in exorcist, one wonders if some spec script about a haunted orphanage was rewritten to join the prestigious realm of cheap horror franchises. They needn't have bothered, as aside from Bell's ensconced look of exhausted terror there aren't really any scares here. A hauntingly silly ending, which suggests even Satan needs a car, will hopefully set up an assumed Part 3 which can thankfully evolve into full-blown demonic comedy.
