After four years together and two weeks apart, Tassia returned home from a family vacation to find Shawn on one knee with an empty box, “knowing I always wanted to choose my own,” says Tassia.
They finally decided on a beautiful ring together, and the couple approached wedding planning much the same way. “Planning was stressful, I won’t lie,” she admits. “Shawn and I are mutually horrible at making decisions so that was probably the hardest part of the whole planning process.” Despite some road bumps along the way, the couple focused on the details they felt were most important in creating the perfect celebration—“the food and drink and ambiance,” says Tassia. “We wanted our guests to be well-fed and -watered and to have a good time. We wanted the day to be about love, laughter and being surrounded by the people we love most in the world.” In shades of blue and crisp white, the couple saved on costs by decorating the beautiful Saraguay House themselves, organizing their own music and setting up DIY touches like a painted tree guestbook while splurging on plenty of food, drink and a top-notch photographer to help remember the day in all its details. “The standout moment for me was when the church doors opened for the first time and we got our first look at one another,” she says. “It was even better than any movie or book ever painted it.”
