Listen for a little bit of Nova Scotia at the World Cup: Maestro Bernhard Gueller, the music director for Symphony Nova Scotia, has been "conducting and recording back-up tracks (including Beethoven’s Ninth) for the opening and closing ceremonies with the Johannesburg Philharmonic."
Gueller, whose international resume makes my head spin, was also named principal guest conductor of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
