Sole and The Skyrider Band

Live At The Attic

This is hard to say but...I actually left the Eric's Trip show before they did their encore. I heard that "Viewmaster" destroyed. Damn.

But I'd made a promise to myself that I would close the festival at The Attic with Sole and The Skyrider Band. My friends in INSTRUMENTS worked with Skyrider before (via their remix of his "Hello Loneliness" on the Japanese release of 47:34) and a lot of my hip hop-savvy friends speak highly of the entire anticon crew. So away I went to The Attic.

Oh, The Attic. The bar I swore I'd never go to again. And every year during the Pop Explosion I break that promise to myself. On Saturday night, we waited at least 20 minutes to get in, some of that outside and some of that on the stairs inside. I fully expected to see a packed house, similar to the situation on Friday when I had to wait to get back into the Seahorse when it hit capacity. Nope. The club was maybe, MAYBE, a quarter full. Why the delay? Why indeed. Oh, The Attic...

Back to Sole and The Skyrider Band. Amusing, informing, alarming, amazing. I love hip hop with a live band and these talented guys were all over the place. I hope they all come back again so I can see them when I'm 95 per cent less exhausted.
