Re: “Train Your Dog or Put it on a Leash!

Part of me says you should try to stay out of those areas, but another side agrees with you; if a dog doesn't have good recall then it shouldn't be off leash, even when its an off leash area. The dog would be a danger to not only cyclists but other people and dogs too.

Re: “Stop yelling at young female runners

Welcome to running downtown. I highly suggest taking your runs to one of the city's many parks where the creeps have to exercise in order to have a chance to yell at you. Also, I've found on the rare occasion that I run downtown, if you run without ear buds the creeps seem less likely to yell something, its funny how when they know you're listening they lose their balls.

Re: “Close encounter

I take their license plate numbers when this happens to me. Then I report it. They get a call from the police and sometimes points taken from their license. If it isn't reported how will they learn how to drive? Oh right...

Re: “Call me Ms.

Clearly men have no concept of the importance placed on the prefix. Institutions/society in general assumes certain stereotypes based on your use of Miss, Ms. or Mrs. Miss = immature, young, perhaps unemployed or under employed, likely under the age of 30. Ms. = maybe gay, or single, or a feminist who is married, likely employed, likely under 50 but probably over 30. Mrs. = either subscribes to the traditional form of marriage, probably is Catholic or follows a major religion where women are seen as subservient to men, definitely married, may or may not have a job, likely over the age of 40. I have heard from many women that they "earned" their right to call themselves Mrs. by putting up with their husbands. Personally I have always used Ms. because the meaning of Mrs. is literally "the property of the Mr.". No thank you, I am and never will be anyone's property, regardless of the fact 90% of people have no idea that's where Mrs. originates from.

Re: “Protests planned over Judge Lenehan's sexual assault decision

This passenger's DNA was found on the driver's upper lip. How did it get there if he didn't have contact with her? Impaired consent is NOT consent. This judge's comments are the reason the majority of sexual assaults continue to go unreported. I, for one, will never get into a cab alone ever again.

Re: “Let's make a plaque

@Bullet - you DO know that the so-called vacation you're talking about was supposed to be an educational conference? And yeah, they actually DID walk off the street and start making $55k straight out of their BEd program (starting salary of a teacher). Your statement about liberal arts speaks to the long standing belief we have all been fed by teachers and society at large that more education is better. Teachers should be promoting more trades, not encouraging youth to take a BA. Yes, teaching is a wonderful and valuable profession, and I'm all for putting more money into classroom improvements, but should taxpayers fork out more money to support their already comfortable lifestyles when they haven't had a raise in years or one that matched the yearly cost of living increase?
