This place is awesome. I went with a friend and we sat down to eat in. It was a rainy Saturday night and there was only one other couple dining there. The service was prompt, the food hot and delicious and flavourful and the servings were large. We ordered way too much food and got to enjoy the leftovers for a day or two afterwards. The restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but it's definitely really good: one of the best places in Halifax. If I could find an accurate menu online, I would order from here a lot.

I don't want to be overly critical of Robie Foods, as it is quite good for what it is (I personally prefer it over the Great Wall), but each of the two times I've eaten food from here I've felt quite sick for the following 24 hours. Perhaps there's just some ingredient they use that I don't respond very well to (I should note that my wife didn't get sick from the food), but it will likely prevent me from returning.

At the same time, if you've got a gut of steel, Robie Foods does give you quite the bang for your buck--the portion sizes are enormous (a large won-ton soup could likely feed a family of five), you get plenty of protein with most dishes, the chicken balls are fantastic (not quite as heavily fried as some others I've tried), and the delivery has been unbelievably quick both times we've ordered from them. As far as taste goes, Robie Foods does Western-style Chinese food as it should be done--I would perhaps just suggest ordering your first Robie meal when you've got some alone time to potentially recover.

I've been eating here since I started eating solid food. Best egg rolls, best won ton soup, and best curry beef ever. The spring rolls are huge and awesome. Great ratio of veggies and meat in all the main dishes, and flavorful sauces in each! I've tried a lot of other Chinese food restaurants, but always come back to Robie Food. Just beware that they don't do debit.

I have only ordered from here once. The chicken balls weren't layered in batter which I appreciated however the food overall wasn't enjoyable. The sweet and sour sauce was different than that of most chinese restaurants but after a few mouthfuls it starts to taste unappealing. My vegetable egg roll was ok as were the fried won-tons. In the end, my quest for the best chinese food in Halifax is far from over.
