Red Hot Chili Peppers

I’m With You (Warner)

I can’t think of a more ridiculous band than the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass player is a jazz phenom, their drummer is tight, their guitarist shreds, and their singer was in Point Break. Sounds good, right? Problem is these guys have made super annoying funk-rock for the past three decades. Californication was the last album that was actually kind of good, mostly because John Frusciante became a total dick and only wanted to make songs inspired by The Cure. Then Frusciante left and his understudy (yes, this band has guitar understudies, apparently) stepped in. Josh Klinghoffer is a good replacement, but for a band that hasn’t released an album in five years, this record is pretty boring and doesn’t really add anything new to their discography.
