It was David Lynch's 60th birthday that pushed Winnipeg's electro-acoustic artrockers Querkus to record a full-length album. After throwing a big bash in homage to the filmmaker, complete with costumes and cover tunes, they started working on Spaces Between the Leaves Make Way for the Stars. Four years of hard work later, the band is touring the new release and is passing through Halifax in time for Lynch's 65th. For Querkus' Karen Asmundson, it only made sense to have another Lynch-themed celebration. "I've always been a fan of his, he creates kind of this beautiful horror...I think that our music would lend itself very well to that aesthetic."
