To the editor,

Great article on the Commonwealth Games. How can Fred MacGillivray stand behind the wining and dining of 71 nations?

You certainly don't have to wine and dine your own country, hopefully, and dining Nigeria and Scotland I would think would be fruitless for votes.

This is the same man that, in Jersey, talked about how record performances on the track in Halifax would come because the venue is at sea level? Glasgow, Scotland, is at 38 feet above sea level and Abuja is only at 1,300 feet above sea level.

There is no real practical difference and, actually, records for athletes well above 1,300 feet, such as the long-jump record set at the Mexico City Olympics, were not broken until the 1996 Olympics.
