I am a Registered Massage Therapist at Massage Addict
Before becoming an RMT I was a paramedic, but it wasn't a career I wanted for the rest of my life. I knew I wanted to be in health care, but not on the worst day of my patients' lives every day. While I was figuring out my future I visited an amazing massage therapist, and I thought, "I want to do that!"
I started asking some questions and found out she was a teacher at ICT. I contacted the school and they suggested I come be a student for a day, which was an amazing experience, so I decided to enroll.
From day one they were so eager to help me succeed! With my health-care background, I enrolled in the Massage As A Second Career Program, which allowed me to complete a bridging course to cover the massage skills I missed in the program's first year, and then I jumped right in with second year.
Near the end of my education, local Massage Addict owners came to talk to our class, and the owner of the Lower Sackville location stood out to me as very approachable and someone I could see working for. I called him the next week and went in for an interview after that, and the rest was history!
This career is perfect for me because each day I leave work knowing I helped someone.
