Maddison Avenue

Published August 07, 2008.Maddison AvenueMaddison Avenue(Indie)Halifax-based Maddison Avenue's self-titled debut EP is a catchy blend of gritty rock and country beats not unlike Van Morrison, Tom Petty and CCR. The addition of professional horn players (including members of local funk-factory The Mellotones) adds a rich jazzy tone to the mix--it bursts with vocal harmonies and keyboard solos that will pull you onto the dance floor. The first track, "Look How Far We've Come," is a great opener for the album since it traces the journey from "Down in the basement, with my good friends playin' vids/makin' fun of the kids on the other side of the city" to the success they've reached today. --Genevieve MacIntyrecategories: Local artist
