Perhaps things have changed recently, but my visit to local source was anything but disappointing. There was a variety of produce, dairy, soy products, meats, and condiments to choose from. I ordered some delicious quiche and picked up a few items for my kitchen. The service was great.

Local Source is great, but it needs to try harder. Opening after a regular grocery store is not acceptable. If they truly want people to eat local and organic food, they need to be a SOURCE, not an exclusive north end niche. That being said I have never had a bad experience shopping there, and produce comes in by season. (In reference to comment above)

I've bought produce at Local Source a few times - it's a little out of my way so I don't get there as often as I'd like - always been a friendly satisfactory experience for me.

I don't know what the real business is at this place because it sure didn't seem to be purveying organic produce... I walked in and there was lots of people but all behind the counter. The shelves had a few things on them that wasn't food and when I asked were the produce was they pointed to a tiny basket full of peppers. I asked for some organic, grain-fed meat and they didn't have anything.
I am not sure what the deal is here, maybe its just a hang-out for Halifax enviro-hipsters or something. One thing for sure, it doesn't sell produce; only principles.
